So here is how I became "The Chuck."
Umpteen-thousand years ago I was working for Apple. It was my job to provide incentive for developers to write business software for the Mac platform, and make sure they got all the resources they needed from Apple to do so. For an upcoming Macworld Expo I created a promotion that involved several developers. It was right at the beginning of the digital signature craze. Attendees would get a digital signature from a particular booth at the show, and once they had their signature, they would visit several developer booths, where they could use it to sign up for a prize — the biggest of which would be a brand new PowerBook.
It was incredibly successful and exposed attendees to several developers they may have otherwise missed at the show. One of those developers was Shana Corporation from Edmonton, Alberta. They invited me to their after-expo party. Upon my arrival, the 10 or so people there all shouted "The Chuck! The Chuck!" Having been caught by surprise, I immediately shouted out the first thing that came to my mind: "Canucks, Canucks!"
And that is how I became "The Chuck."
